Table Talks

Join the conversation at ICIS 2026

Theme: How do we collaborate and coexist in an increasingly digital world?

Have an issue you would like the IS community to talk about? A research idea that deserves more discussion? A methodological challenge, emerging topic, community concern, or opportunity for collaboration?

Reflecting the ICIS 2026 theme, Digital Collaboration and Coexistence, Table Talks provide a space to explore the opportunities, tensions, and challenges that arise as people, organizations, communities, and technologies become ever more interconnected. Bring a topic that matters to you and invite others to share perspectives, question assumptions, and explore new possibilities together.

What could you bring to the table?

Table Talks can explore the many ways we collaborate, connect, and coexist in an increasingly digital world, as well as other issues that matter to the IS community.

You might propose a conversation that:

  • explores emerging forms of digital collaboration among people, organizations, communities, and technologies;
  • examines how humans and increasingly autonomous technologies can work, learn, and coexist;
  • considers tensions, risks, inequalities, or unintended consequences arising from greater digital interdependence;
  • explores an emerging or under-researched IS topic;
  • examines a research, methodological, or teaching challenge;
  • brings attention to communities, contexts, or perspectives that receive limited space in conventional conference sessions;
  • considers how IS research can inform policy, practice, or societal challenges; or
  • creates space for an important conversation that you think the IS community should be having.

Your Table Talk does not need to provide all the answers. It just needs a topic worth discussing and questions that invite others into the conversation.

Propose a Table Talks Topic

We invite ICIS 2026 attendees to propose a topic and serve as a Table Talks convenor. Proposals may be submitted by an individual or by a small group of co-convenors.

Please provide:

  • a title for your Table Talks;
  • the name(s) and affiliation(s) of the convenor(s);
  • a brief description of the topic and the conversation you hope to generate; and
  • your preferred session time, where applicable.

Space is limited, so we encourage you to submit your idea early.

Submission deadline: 20 October 2026
Notification of acceptance: 30 October 2026

Submit your Table Talk proposal:

Previous Table Talks topics included: A Conversation on Indigenous Research; Transforming Volunteering Communities through Digital Innovation; Researching Complex Social Issues; IS Policy Research; Human-Machine Configurations for Learning with AI; and Reimagining Faculty Wellbeing in an Always-On Academy

What happens next?

Accepted Table Talks will be included in the ICIS 2026 Table Talks programme. Conference participants will be able to sign up for the conversations they would most like to join. Where space permits, participants may also be able to drop in on a Table Talk during the session.

Table Talks are designed to be conversational, welcoming, and participatory. Convenors are there to get the discussion started, not to deliver a formal presentation.

 Bring your questions. Bring your ideas. Bring a topic that deserves a conversation.

Join Table Talks @ ICIS 2026 for conversations that count.
